We're UFO hoarders.
Sometimes you screw something up and sometimes you just loose interest (and sometimes you just loose it!) but you NEVER get rid of it.
Thank you old lady hoarder for saving this piece for me.
I think it is beautiful.
This block measures approximately 15x15 and the local craft store only had 12x12 and 20x20 canvases in stock. Although I originally I wanted to mount it on 16" or 18" square, I think the 2.5 inch border really shows off the block well. I painted the canvas with an acrylic Buttermilk Cream paint. Don't forget to paint the edges! Be sure to pick a paint that won't detour your eye from the actual showpiece.
This is the hardest part... let it dry overnight.
(waiting for paint to dry is SO difficult!)
2.)Measure, Place, and Secure Your Block to the Canvas.
Place your block in the center of the canvas. Measure each side trying to make all 4 borders as even as possible. Secure the placement by inserting straight pin straight through the block and canvas.
3.)Sew on with Quilting Thread or Invisible Thread.
I suggest using either quilting or invisible thread since they seem to be a little stronger and glide through the painted canvas relatively easily. I did discover than my "invisible" thread is actually grey. Oh well. Make a straight running stitch about 1/4 inch from the edge of the block. I just eyeballed mine.
4.) Hang it on Your Wall (or Tree).
You can find it here at my Etsy store!
