This chair is made in the Bank of England style with a saddle seat which was popular in the late 1800's. Though I can't be sure, it certainly seems like this chair may be one of the earlier pieces. Either way, it's a pretty sure bet it is at least 100 years old!
After spending the day sanding it down, I noticed that it is reminiscent of a Restoration Hardware piece. Now that really gets my creative cogs turning! I have pretty good idea of how I'm going to finish it but I really want to take my time. After all, this guy is older than my grandDad so it deserves some well thought out design and care.
