However, right now it's just not happening.
You see, I have kids.
Mommy confession: For the past few years Christmas decorating has become a nightmare. I would go crazy trying to get everything just right and for some reason, my young daughters never seemed to share my "vision".... go figure. I'm pretty sure I made my girls cry last year and their tune quickly went from "Fa-la-la-la-la" to "You're a MEAN one, Mrs Grinch"!
My meltdown soon ensued.
That's why this year I went with the Frozen mantra and "let it go". The kids decorated everything and I didn't lift a finger. It went much smoother and seeing their smiling faces once it was complete is better than a tear stained cheek any day.
Yeah, the top 3 feet of the tree is naked. The garland is lopsided, the stockings are mangled, and the tacky foam reindeer is on the wall but you know what- they are happy and so am I.
...but the kids picked the tree topper. :)
It's about the ultimate and perfect gift. Remembering this helps me put everything back in the right perspective.
Wishing you a Peaceful and HAPPY Christmas!
